Orchestra Stories: My Neighbor Totoro – Joe Hisaishi Vinyl LP

Joe Hisaishi created this orchestral suite as a friendly introduction to the orchestra, for children and for grown-ups who were once children. It retells the story of My Neighbor Totoro through eight of the film's best-loved pieces, from "Stroll" and "Totoro's Here!" to "Catbus" and the famous "My Neighbor Totoro." Side A has narration in Japanese by Shigesato Itoi, the voice of the girls' father in the film, who introduces the instruments and their sounds along the way. Side B presents the same suite as pure music, performed by the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. This 2021 Studio Ghibli Records pressing is the first time these recordings have been released on vinyl. It has lush forest art of Totoro on the front, Miyazaki's rainy-night Catbus sketch on the back, and the obi strip.
